Hi all, I'm putting a couple pieces of kit into my loft (a network switch unit and a NAS drive). I'm concerned about how warm it sometimes gets up there so have been looking at solutions for keeping the kit cool. My first thoughts was a small network cabinet with a thermostatically controlled fan. Can anyone recommend some good products to achieve this? I don't want to spend silly money, say no more than £150, plus I don't want something that will cost a fortune to run? Thanks for any tips. Steve.
This is what I did... The hoses connect to 3 100mm roof vents. I used 3 Noctua Industrial fans to blow the hot air out, but I plan to replace them with some more powerful in-line fans to cope with the summer heat. I use a thermostat controller in my other rack cabinet... It has a temperature sensor you can place anywhere, and can be set to automatically switch on mains powered / low voltage cooling fans at whatever temperature you set. These are cheap on eBay: 220V Touch Mini Digital Temperature Controller Cooling Heating Switch Thermostat I made an enclosure for mine out of a standard project box... You should be able to do the same type of thing for less than £100 no-problem. Dan.
