Network adapter missing

Standard Member
I have reinstalled Vista OS on a Dell laptop and the Network adapter is not found. I used the OS and Driver CD that came with the laptop. I tried downloading the software from Dell but the laptop will not find the files off my USB flash when I ask it to browse.
Any ideas please?

Is this an internal adapter? Likely the drivers you have are not compatible.
Look in:
Control panel -> system -> device manager
Does your network device show as a yellow query?
Right click it and -> properties. Should have a VEN identification string that should help u find drivers via google...

It does not appear in Device Manager at all. There are no Network Adapters showing. Everything there is OK accept "other devices" which are all yellow warnings. But no adapter??

I have discovered that the Driver cd does not load the drivers automatically but I need to load manually each driver. I have now got an adapter and am connected. I am now updating everything including missing drivers.
