HI All

im looking at purchasing the below nas device

Netgear Ready Nas NV+ 4 Bay Gigabit Desktop Network: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

at the moment i run multiple external drives with 1080p mkvs and 1080 mpg videos, these are streamed to my playstation using ps3 media server, the mkvs need to be transcoded by the pc.

my question is ifi buy the nas device can i have all my drives in the nas, turn just the nas on and not the computer and stream all my mkvs and mpg 1080 films.

Regards Simon

The PS3 natively supported files will be fine but the MKV's will need to be pre-converted into a PS3 friendly format before you store/stream them from the NAS as the NAS won't do any transcoding. Try MKV2VOB for the conversions.
