Netgear DG834G as modem only with router F5D8231au4

I have the above netgear adsl2+ modem router which is great when wired. Trouble is it's too hot at doing the wireless thing. I have bought cheaply a Belkin N1 F5D8231au4 which I did not realise is a "router only" Not really a major prob as with brief looking around I can use the Netgear as a modem only "bridge" it  and usel the belkin as a long range wireless router. Trouble is networking has never been a stron point of mine, I've been building pc's for myself for 15 years but not much experience with network stuff.

Can anyone give me any pointers in laymans terms of how to do this:lease: or am I better off getting an individual ADSL2+ modem like the Netgear DM111P for a few pounds

cheers for any help
