I'd been really looking forward to this but from everyone's comments I don't think I'll waste any more time, the 1st 20 mins were enough.

-2 for 13 FPS syfy CGI
-1 for not really original story. And full of OMGFTW ideas at how to get there.
-1 for that from Dududododada or whatever her name is screaming/crying near the end of the film
-1 for pathetic hero, this time not from USA but still....

      which leaves us at 5/10

well, story sucks, acting is more overacting but that's like dancing in indian movies, so I can live with that. But since the whole movie is CGI, they should have done it the right way.

At least Indian movies have music and dancing.

Scientifically completely stupid premise/story and CGI/Acting poor compared to Western Movie standards, but I actually enjoyed watching it! Like for starters earth no longer spinning... bye-bye any atmosphere well before Earth would reach Jupiter. If that's a classic historical Chinese story then writer had no clue about Physics whatsoever.

It was like experiencing culture of another country when you go abroad. Makes a change from the "Yanks" always saving the world. Interesting that they had clips of BBC news runs at start and that main none Chinese "friendly" character was a Russian (like it would be a Brit in a US film).

      I don't feel I wasted 2hr anyway.

The atmosphere doesn't depend on the Earth's rotation, merely its gravitational field which would remain intact. More of an issue would be the electromagnetic field which would very likely be affected by the lack of rotation (even if the core continued to rotate) which might mean we all get microwaved by the Sun :)

But let's not criticise the premise too much, lest we revisit "mutating neutrinos" :D

We all do, there is always more to learn. That helps to keep things interesting.

The concept of moving a planet has been explored seriously before. In his novel The Songs of Distant Earth, Arthur C Clarke describes a terraforming process in which a giant spacecraft using a powerful engine (the Quantum Drive) slows down a planet's orbit, so it moves closer to its star to make it warmer. The process only uses one engine, activated once a day for decades.

How its done here is a bit sillier, and stopping Earth's rotation would cause all kinds of bad things to happen including tsunamis. Really though I had no problem with the premise. Its the execution that sucked.

His science was very good, in fact he came up with the idea of geostationary communications satellites to make on of his stories work.

Wandering Earth was fantastic. Especially the dubbed version. It was so good it left Captain Marvel and Avengers Endgame to shame. [/Comedy]
