Superb review Cas and knew you would power through this for us ;) :smashin:
I've only watched a couple of episodes so great to know the entire season is so good.
The bar brawl in ep.1 was just incredible though.
Easily the best Marvel show for me, even ahead of Daredevil.
Looking forward to the 'Assault esque episode'

not sure but I don't think you'll be too far from it.
I ploughed through it all so fast, faster than I expected to, and it's kind of blurred into a whirlwind of brutal violence. I think I saw that episode on Saturday afternoon so it must be somewhere between eps 4 and 9, I think.

When did this go up? Netflix content is good, but their algorithms are rubbish.

I have watched and 'liked' all the previous Marvel shows on the same profile (OK, not Iron Fist S1, think I thumb-downed that one!), and Punisher doesn't show anywhere on any of my lists. I actually had to search for it to add to my list. If I don't get recommended something I will obviously watch, how I am I going to know about more obscure things I might like?

Anyway, looking forward to this for tonight, the last series was pretty good.

It sounds like cancelling this show (if it happens), is just plain ridiculous. When you think of the dross that gets renewed year on year.

Haven't started it yet, hopefully this week!!

Agree with everything you say here, binged it over the weekend and it's truly superb. I rated the 1st season as a perfect 10/10, this one I'd say 9/10 but it's really splitting hairs.

Taking both seasons into account, its easily my favourite thing Marvel have ever put on the screen in any format.

Good to read it seems good.

Have not started it yet. Not really a big super hero or marvel fan but loved daredevil and thought season one of punisher was great. I think the fact that punisher looks like he could fight and indeed has been in a few (not so much pretty boy) adds to it

      Thanks reviewing Cas.

I'm 8 episodes in and absolute loving it. Bernthal is just an absolute force of nature, he's got just the right levels of intensity, physicality and menace needed for the Punisher. He actually reminds me a bit of early De Niro the actor and a passing resemblance physically. I do hope this survives the Netflix culls and somehow carries on with this cast and creative team. I'm still hoping to see Punisher crossover with the likes of Blade one day. If only!

      Cool review Cas.
Bit of a back and forth series this, like Jessica Jones was series two but this is far better and has other characters being fleshed out more which is not a bad thing.
Bernthal is grunting his way through fight sequences with aplomb. It's like he's activated an anger synth drug for each one, as his voice and body tenses as he beserker's his way in. However, Castle feels more considered in his approach when necessary and willing to listen more to reason when it's not an all out emergency save.
I like the push-pull of violence with Billy and Castle in the way it highlights how the tightrope of being pure evil for evil's sake with Billy but when used with necessity by Castle to prevent more plays the line with so little separation.
This series has proven more of an oddity with violence against women in fight scenes and episode 9, in particular, having
the women in the drug house murdered after seeing the men shot and them pleading pointlessly for their lives only to be shot after a pause. Brutal stuff.
Overall I'm enjoying it a lot and still find this easily the best of the bunch.
Castle is a real mutha clucka.

So this will be final season, sad, thought it was the best out of the all TV series based on Marvel.
Finally we got some 18 rated action for us banshee kick ass loving adults.
I am two away from the end of season 2 and my thoughts on season 2?
I think season 1 was better but that's just me.

The name of the episode * Flustercluck* made me laugh...........

As Frank Castle would say *God DAMN*

Are we still under the impression that these shows are effectively being "soft" cancelled in order for Disney to acquire the rights on their streaming platform? If so... As long as they keep the gooduns I am happy!

Last two to go, I've enjoyed it immensely but the ultra violence makes the lack of swearing stick out like a sore thumb. I wonder if it's a Disney thing? "Yeah feel free to mutilate as many guys as you like, with plenty of gore but no naughty words and ABSOLUTELY NO BOOBIES!"

Quick update - last two eps sort off made up for the dip mid season, John (Pilgrim) steals the season for me. The guy like Frank wants to do the right thing.
I would be surprised if they make a season 3 but I would def watch it.

      *Wanna dance with me*

Sad to think due to company jousting it could be a few years, if at all, before this could reemerge.

And I've said it many times, the worst thing The Walking Dead ever did was kill off his character. Absolute shocker of a move.

Deserves more big screen time, but he's undoubtedly one of the best TV actors these days.

Watched 8 episodes so far, a great watch, really enjoy it.

It reminds me of banshee not just in violence and fight scenes, but in writing. The preacher is just like Kai Procter and the siege at the police station seems pretty similar too. Still an excellent watch though.

Watched the whole thing over a few days. I really enjoyed it a lot. Mainly because of Bernthal and the guy playing pilgrim. That guy has some awesome menacing eyes but also quite a lot of soul in them aswell. Really enjoyed his character and how calm and collected he was yet badass and scary at the same time. Watching him turn into more and more of a bloody mess as the season went on was great and his fight with the punisher was great too. There were a few episodes though that I felt were a little boring but it picked up again in the last third and overall I enjoyed it a lot. Bernthal really makes this show though. he does anger intensity so damn well but those moments where he's scared or emotional he also does really well. The walking dead for me lost a lot of what I loved about it when his character left.

Whats been (publicly) said so far is that it is Netflix that are cancelling these shows in preparation of and for Disney picking up the rights. But the episodes made and already shown for and on Netflix will remain on the platform "for years to come."

The bad news is that if Disney do decide to revive any of these cancelled series, it will be years and there is virtually zero chance they will be as dark and brutal as Netflix versions.

I said to my girlfriend as it kicks off, "god he looks like Sloth from the goonies". After the dust up it panned to his face, she said he didn't look like sloth before, but he does now. Brutal fight.

I said exactly the same thing after the fight, and had to laugh later on in the series when one of the masked gang had a Sloth mask on
