Cheers for that, Cas. I wasn't over the moon with S1 and it sounds like Netflix have played it far too safe again. The offspring will no doubt be all over this until their devices call to the point of them paying as much attention to LiS as us.
Cheers Cas, you’ve your work cut out at the moment clearly! Really enjoyed the first season so was going to watch this regardless. Out of interest have I missed a/your review of V Wars on Netflix at all? Don’t remember seeing it but have just made a start and seems promising so far after first two episodes.
Just watched S2 episode 1. Serious implausibly issues (like where do they get all the stuff that they seem to need) but will stick with it for a couple more episodes to see how it goes.
I really liked season 1, but Lost in Space has always been a big part of my life. I'm 38 and used to watch the original series on a sunday morning with my Dad, loved the original film (surely that's not a monster from the ID? It is...and don't call me Shirley), the west end musical is absolutely amazing and i still listen to the soundtrack frequently, film remake was half decent too despite some casting decisions....how you doinnnnnn Judy Robinson
So i was worried with S1 that it might suffer from Star Wars syndrome with a lot of people like me saying that Netflix has ruined it. But the result was pretty good, and i thought they did the robot really well, which my main concern. My other gripe with Netflix shows is that the cast is always really really really ridiculously good looking and the show ends up feeling like a perfume commercial. But here the cast looked real (albeit with excellent skincare routines)
Personally disliked Season 1 so doubt I'll get to 2. Fell into the same hole that Extant fell into for me. Too many characters doing things that just didn't fit in with their personality or really contrived story lines in order to provide plot armour (or fill in plot holes).
I enjoyed season 2 - much broader in scope and a little darker in tone as well. As the premise is pretty 'Danger Will Robinson' - hard to complain re the plot lines. But even after 2 seasons there is some still WTF moments especially with the robots. Maybe they will explain in Season 3 - George
Anybody else noticed they changed the cameras used to film this between season 1 & 2? So we have a new aspect ratio, changing from 2:1 to (what looks like) 2.35:1.
I wouldn’t bother to raise it as anything more than an observation, but here the new cameras (or something else in the production chain) has led to a slightly inferior picture compared to season 1. Try switching between seasons one and two and in addition to the change in aspect ratio you will notice a slightly less detailed image in season 2 with less pleasing blacks and low-light scenes.
Seems everyone making a TV show now wants to present it in ultrawide. Could ultrawide TVs finally be a thing?
I watched Season 1 and thought it only just so-so.
Season 2 is much the same, with the Robinson family just as annoying. I've only watched two episodes so far, so am still waiting for the robot's return.
Not a great sci-fi show, but good enough to while away the time.
