Sometimes a bit telegraphed and on the nose. However, it does what it says on the tin and very much reminds you of other films more iconic films, however it actually gets away it with which is pretty good going. Would be an interesting world to revisit maybe better in a netflix series rather than film. It does raise more questions than answers which I always like.

I watch this last night. Almost a combination of many scifi movies.
      Thanks Cas.

I did like the ending in particular. If it were a cinema visit, one to be discussed over a drink afterwards...

6 hour Netflix/UHD binge for me for the rest of the day so i might try to watch this shortly. Even a sub par Ex Machina wannabe would probably be worth a watch.

I got on a lot more with this than the usual Netflix output. The ping pong motion of who to
trust once Swank appeared was enjoyable and really ratcheted up the tension for me.

      Really enjoyed this
      Scene setting start was good
But once the stranger came into it, the plot twisted this way and that way and kept you gripped right until the end scene.
      Very enjoyable.
Helps when you don’t have Hollywood expectations to live upto

      Watched last night, was ok.

Give it a 6/10, I liked the setting, but the story in the end turned out to be a little weak.

I watched this the other night. we saw the advert as soon as we turn on netflix on the ps3.

Thought "that looks interesting" so i suggested (begged) the misses to watch it, and I relly liked it.

Seen far worse at the cinema that's for sure!

I really enjoyed this movie too. Great set/production design, and a decent cast, the main girl was a great new actress. Really liked the robot design too from Weta Workshop.

      So did I understand correctly...

She used the collective robot army to wipe out "bad" humans?

And is now trying to repopulate Earth now herself with fresh humans.

And she kept killing the children who failed the intelligence/moral tests, until she found the main character.

And now she doesn't care about the rest of the embryos being less intelligent (so won't filter/cull them)... just the first girl, who is now the new "mother"?

And she let Swank live and planned the entire meeting/events long beforehand? Including pretending to not know what main character was doing all the time?

And she killed Swank in trailer then when job complete?

Watched it this morning. Your description was pretty much spot on, although I told friends The matrix/Oblivion

Enjoyed it. Think it possibly thought it was cleverer than it was, but despite the predictability it was very enjoyable and the production and set design was excellent

Think this will become a little gem in the coming future, gave it a watch on Friday night and it was a nice surprise.
The Ex Machina vibe was there and the young actress played it to a *T*.
Nice to see Hillary Swank back too, from reading about her online she has been hard to cast in roles because success came to her at the Oscars twice and she over-achieved before hitting 30. I have always admired her work and would like to see her more even if it's trip into tv.

Mother design was interesting, did you notice her mouth move when in communication.

Soundtrack too on the money, lots of detail and I could watch this one again.
      Solid 8.5 for me.
      Thanks Cas for covering this.
      Respect.

      Cheers for heads-up, Cas.
Another Netflix outing that's like poor Chinese take-away and just leaves you feeling hungry but not for more of it.

Saw it last night with my eyes.

More typically I'd bail half way through such a film in frustration, but yeah this one was good. Afterwards discussed the open ended questions raised by the film with the resident mice.

I really enjoyed this. Up there with Prospect as one of the better recent sci-fi movies. The edning let it down a little, but solid sci fi nonetheless.

I loved it , great lil peice of sci fi . Loved the little nods to other all time ( Sigourney's fingers in Alien for example :smashin: ) greats in the genre . Well acted and great to see practical effects used. Loved that ( The Thing ) vibe score going on that fitted the film well . I did think the final act was a little wanting as all the great work was within the complex , that small criticism aside its a great lil film.

Looked great, excellent cast, but the story was lacking... Netflix seem to think that twenty plot twists makes a story interesting.
Could have been so much better.
