Just upgraded to a Pioneer DVR108 but Nero can't see it.

Nero tools can and report it accurately however Nero it'sself only offers me "Image Copy".

I'm using Nero 5.5 with the latest patch to the highest 5.5 can go. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Mark.

I doubt you'll get Nero 5 to see it, AFAIK device recognition requires updates and Ahead aren't updating Nero 5. The fact that the utilities appear to know what it is doesn't actually mean very much, they're probably just reading standard text strings from the device's firmware, whereas the burner itself needs to know a lot more, presumably an Image Copy is more generic than the other operations Nero performs which I'm guessing is why it can handle that.

I'm no expert here but unless I'm mistaken you'll need to upgrade to Nero 6 .. I take it you got an OEM version of the 108 without bundled software.

Guess I'll be going for Nero 6 then... I did notice that there's a few different Nero6 package options available. Which would you recommend.

I didn't get the Nero oem with my 108, but I did buy 5.5 and have a full licence key for it so I could go for an online update.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    if you go here

This patch is region free (RPC-1), has the rip-lock disabled, and also allows you to burn any DVD-R disc at any speed between 6x and 16x.

I see a little upgrade for me too...... :smashin:

Happy burning at lease your computer hobby seems less painful than DIY

That's a very useful patch Dave, thanks. Howver I'll still need to upgrade to Nero 6 to take advantage of it as my drive just isn't recognised.

Don't actually do that much burning, just needed a DVD-Rom for my new Linux server and as there's so little difference in price I decided to put my old Pioneer 107 in the Linux box and buy a dual layer drive for my PC.

BT. DIY is a distant (though painful) memory!

Not sure where you were looking Mark, this upgrade page lists only one upgrade option.
