I bought the latest Nero 6 suite this week and the power pack bundled with it has some great software. However, I have a major dilema.
I backed up a load of files using the create a data disk option onto dvd.
Like a fool I didn't check afterwards and went ahead with a hard drive reformat.
Now when I put the disk in I can see all my files, roughly about 3 gig of data, but none of the files work. I have precious photo's stored on there but when I click on it Microsoft picture viewer opens and says 'no picture available'.
Exe files don't even execute and document files don't open.
There must be a way to access these files, I can't have 3 gig of nothing, can I?
    Please help!!!! :lease:

AFAIK compression is selected by default with Nero "Back it up". You'll probably have to uncompress again using Nero to access your data.

I don't think I used the backup option. I used the create data disk optionbecause it seemed more practical than compressing files etc using the backup utility.

just as a quick test try copying some of the files back to the hard drive ans try opening them from there... does it let you copy the files? do they open ?

rather than double-clicking on files to open, try file >open in picture viewer, and browse for the file.... see if it opens this way..

is it just the files on the DVD you're struggling with?

if you create a new word doc etc, then save it, can you open it up again?

Yes, only files on the dvd.
I made 2 or 3 dvd's at the same time and I can access my files with no problem on the others. When I try and open files on this dvd in nero I get the message, "Unexpected file format"
