Currently have a Panasonic-Viera-TH-50PX600 that I purchased back in 2007 and is now just starting to show color blotches on the screen.
Will there be a big jump in picture quality from my old Panasonic Plasma?
Will be used mainly for watch Movies/TV and a little PS4 gaming but not really that much.
Was looking at the Panasonic VT60 and ST60 but have read about a lot of complaints of them being returned due to the fan noise which I really don't want.
Really torn on what make/model? Only looking at Samsung, Sony and Panasonic.
Is the Series 8 range really that much better than what Sony and Pansonic have to offer?
Is the price jump worth it for the Series 8?

Interested to hear your input on this.

The VT65 have fans but the ST60 and GT60 don't.

It's hard to get a hold of ST60s now but GTs are still available. LED wise I would go for the Sony W9.

    Good luck.

Thx PC, have been leaning towards the Sony KDL70R550A... only concern is how deep the black levels are.

Don't want the black banding on movie aspect ratios to look bright.
Hard to judge in stores with all the bright lighting, needs to viewed in a dimmed room.

I haven't come across that Sony before but a quick search results in a three and a half star review score from Cnet. The W9 gets five stars pretty much across the board and is about as good a LED as you'll get.

    The 55" W9 is goes for £1500.

I'm assuming you're aware that the Panasonic models discussed are plasma?

I upgraded from a ST50 to GT60. The GT is only days old and still needs to bed in but, initially at least, there doesn't seem to much difference at all in PQ.

In fact if I was to do a Pepsi challenge I doubt I could tell which is which. Maybe over time I'll notice subtle improvements. The ST50 is a great set and I dare say the ST60 is too.

One thing to take into consideration with the ST60 is lag time for gaming. It' worse than on the ST50 and GT60 so if you do a lot of gaming it's something that might influence your decision.

The Sony W9 has very low lag and is good for gaming too.

It depends what your budget is. The 46" W9 and 50" GT60 both retail at £1200.
