Hello

A few years ago I had JVC XV-THS5 surround sound system, all the speakers plugged into the sub, which then had a cable to the dvd player/amp.

The DVD player stopped working now, so I have 5 speakers going to waste and want to use them in the main room.

I would need a av reciever and a sub to complete 5.1 setup.

The speakers I have are:
1x centre JVC 6 Ohms 80W
2x front JVC 4 Ohms 120W
2x surround 6 Ohms 80W

Are these any good, or should I look for a new system?

Would the Sony STRDH510 work/any good?

Cheers

In theory you should just about be OK with those speakers although the 4 ohms of the fronts would be a concern considering you are looking at a budget Sony reciever. 4 ohms is about the lowest an AV reciever can safely handle with lower end recievers suffering more due to smaller power supplies etc. You will also need to buy a new sub, which by the time you have bought one you are most of the way towards a proper 5.1 AV speaker set. Hence I would throw all the speakers and just get a proper AV set (they will also sound better as most all in one speakers are pretty useless).
