Thinking of putting a larger hard disk into my Sky+ box. I'm quite comfortable messing around inside a PC, but I'm not familiar with the innards of a Sky+ unit. Is there a nice, detailed, step-by-step guide to the procedure?

Also would welcome comments on the choice of hard disk. I thought maybe a Maxtor DiamondMax 16: it's 5400 rpm (I've heard Sky+ can have problems with 7200 rpm disks because of spin-up time), not hideously expensive (£120 for 120GB), and runs fairly quiet - not as quiet as a Seagate Barracuda V, but quiet - and runs unusually cool as well.

Ive gpt a 120gb maxtor 7200 in mine and Ive had no problems at all now after 3 months.

Its not at all difficult to do the swap, you do need a torx security bit driver (the one with the hole inside a 6 sided star shape). As soon as you take the lid off the Sky+ box you will wonder what your worrying about, just set the new drive to the same jumper settings as the one that comes out and bung it in, turn it on and it sorts itself out.
