Im think about buying the Sony DAV-DZ 260 from

Amazon.co.uk: Sony DAV-DZ260 - 5.1 ch - DVD Home Cinema System - Black: Electronics & Photo

I was was wondering if anyone can find the FULL specs for it because I cant find them anywhere, and I was also wondering if you can buy the speakers on there own without the DVD Player because I have a PS3.
Do you mean the operating instructions?

Sony UK have a search page for 'user manuals ' and it looks as if you can download in adobe format ....

Main PageÂ*|Â*Sony Europe Customer Support Portal

Now to try downloading  ......

Yes, it Works .... 104 pages! Happy reading if that 's what you were looking for. But the direct link to the specific manual that I inserted in the post turns into the General Sony support page when I click on the 'preview post button. Ho Humm .. I wonder if the manual pdf link will work ?

It seems to.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks dudes. Does anyone know if Sony offer the same sort of systems without the DVD Player?

I don't know for sure but it does seem unlikely doesn't it? DVD drives are so cheap these days they can throw one into this kind of system for next to nothing.

Ok and one final question, is the DVD player normally required for the whole setup to work or are all the connection etc. managed at the back of the sub. Is the DVD Player just an optional extra?

Not an 'optional extra ' since I doubt whether it can be removed.

I do realize that you may well be on a very tight budget indeed but this kind of system could be reasonably described as being intended for use for a couple of years and then replaced ... a 'throw away ' system ... and it may well be that you are trying to obtain the kind of flexibility from the Sony DAV-DZ 260 that it was never designed to provide.

The problem with buying from Amazon is that you just can't listen to your prospective purchase and so if you could at least manage to inspect something similar in a local store you might avoid coming to realize that you should have waited awhile and saved more.

Look for 'Clearance Bargains ' ... like this ..

Richer Sounds - The UK's Hi-Fi, Home Cinema & Flat Panel Tv Specialists!

Save your money... and then buy a modest Receiver plus surround sound speakers. From what I've seen of the 'Home Cinema in a Box ' systems you can do Much better by buying the separate components and since you already have a PS 3 you could tailor your system to the PS3 rather than trying to find a very low budget all in one system that will accept a P.S.3.

In your situation I'd wait for the sales at the turn of the year.

Regards,

Arnold.
