Hi there you have probably been asked this question a thousand times before but here goes....

I have a DAV-S800 sony dvd surround system and Sky +.

Having looked around I have seen two with good reviews that are in my price range which are the Panasonic TH-42pwd6 and the Hitachi pd5200.

I can get the Hitachi for £1999 at unbeatable.co.uk and obviously the AV Sales price on the Panasonic is fantastic and the warranty is cheaper.

My problem with the Panasonic is that I am not sure about electrics at all and I know I will have to insert things like terminal boards into the back which I am not confident of doing.

What boards/extras would I need to buy for the Panasonic to set up my surround system (Which runs from one scart), and my Sky + box? and how easy are they to fit?

Due to my inexperience on the electrical side of things am I better just taking the easy way out and buying the Hitachi?

Also, can anyone give me a rough idea of how much it costs for someone to mount the screen on the wall?

Any advice/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    :lease:

AFAIK, inserting a terminal board is about as hard as inserting SCART plug - maybe a little more to it in securing the board in the set, but it's not going to be complicated.

Make sure you go and look at both sets before you buy, and check out the new LG's (42PX11 / 42PX12) as well.

Thats not a terminal board, its an external box of tricks that converts an RGB signal (read scart) and converts it into a VGA signal (read PC monitor type connection) you can then plug the VGA connection into the built in VGA socket on the plasma

av-sales sell the convertors it you search there site, there made by JS technology

    HTH :)

    Thanks for that Jane.

Also due to me having Sky+ would it be worthwhile investing in the Plasma Aspect Ratio Controller from av sales? Does anyone have one, and does it make a big difference?

    Thanks again all. :hiya:
