Hello!

I have made this "Need help with new Game PC build" thread because I was searching for a forum where people could help me with my new Gaming Rig build. To give a bit of side information, I have quit a very expensive hobby (motocross), I sold my bike and all my gear and I want to spend this money on a new hobby that I have as of now, which is gaming and my pc in particular. I have a budget of 7000 euros max to utilize. I will be gaming in 4K, video editing, and using photoshop.

I would like to include these parts already into the build:

  • Intel Core i9-13900K 3 GHz 24-Core Processor
  • Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
  • RTX 4090 Graphics card

The question I have about the graphics card is, what is the difference between the RTX 4090 models and the Strix one? There are so many different variants of these cards that I don't know which one to choose. I am also terrified that my cable will melt because of the known problems it gives. I found this cablemod website which should fix it but I don't know if its a safe option. ** MOD Edit, link removed **.

I also wanted to ask if this motherboard is a good option and if it has a good sound card or if I should get a separate one. About the storage I am still waiting for the PCIe 5.0 ssds that will come out soon as the motherboard supports it and if the motherboard is a good choice. Because I want to have a lightning-fast PC. I have also seen that the motherboard supports 128 GB RAM, which I would like to have as well but if 64 GB of RAM still is enough for what I'll be doing that is fine too.

As for the cooling, I will ask the company where I am going to buy it to let them install a custom water cooling system with tubes etc. Since the CPU and GPU need a lot of cooling. Or is aircooling enough? Because I would like to have a quiet system that has no problem cooling my system.

One last question, should I go with windows 10 or windows 11?

That's all the information I have gathered from my side. There is so much information and I get so confused and lost in PC building. Because of this, I wanted to ask for your help since I am a total noob at this. Could you guys help me build a next-gen high-end gaming rig that utilizes my budget?

If you guys require any further information, let me know!

I want to thank you all in advance and considering reading this topic.

Can’t advise you on everything but yes that CPU certainly does run hot and you’ll want an AIO water cooler for it as a minimum, IMO.

32Gb of decent RAM would be ample but there’s nothing wrong with 64Gb if you’re going to benefit from it. Just make sure it’s good quality RAM and as fast as is compatible.

In regards to the 4090, I’ve seen multiple reports of people that have bought the cheapest one they could get, £1699 if they’re lucky, that actually overclocked faster than the “premium” cards, so I’d just go with the cheapest one you can find available TBH. We’re talking 1-2% performance difference apparently.

I’ve used PC Specialist a couple of times in the past few years and they’ve been very good. They can certainly make sure that the PC you purchase is fully compatible at least.

Yes, I am planning to go with a full liquid cooling system. Thanks for explaining about the card. It is indeed not much of a percentage gain and I'm quite happy about that so I can save a bit of money and not buy the most expensive one.
