    hi guys

considering buying a tag processor AV32R the seller says he thinks it is bp 192 version with 7.1 channels , software version 3.8 2 years oldbut is unable to confirm so he sent pictures

can anyone tell from the pictures what type it is hopefully it might be
AV32R bp 192 EX 7.1 WITH TMRQ (DualProcessor)

was unable to load pictures as file size too big

maybe this will tell on one of the pictures was black piece with following info printed on it
    analog devices
    ADSP-21065L
    EDC62018A-0.3
    9918
    SHARC
    KS-264

    cheers

    Hi Brendan,

You can also send the IAG-TMA helpdesk an Email with the serialnumber. They can tell you what type op AV32R it is.

Martin is right. Without seeing it best getting the serial number and checking with the helpdesk.

Well, I can tell you it is certainly not dual sharc. It has latest old sharc inside (0.3) so it might be bp192, just see rear panel and you will know if there is bypass there.
But I would STRONGLY advice you check the SN, someone selling AV32R and not knowing what he's selling sucks a bit.

The picture you sent me DOES not show a Bypass model they seem to show a early edition of the motherboard.

There is no 5.1 Bypass pcb fitted and i would agree with Plump that the owner should know what edition of unit he has.

The rear of the picture also show an older version than the claimed two years and does not have the 7.1ex pcb fitted either

The tone of the email also worries me quote

" 6. I will ship by Federal Express, will take 2 business days to Ireland.
Fedex will charge my account on shipping cost.

    7. I can accept Paypal (add 3%), Escrow (fee by buyer) or normal bank"

Seem to me like the usual ebay type scan be careful

Also the picture he has sent you appears to be a library type Tag Mclaren Picture as it seem to show a motherboard not in its case but on a photography type bench

and good luck getting any info from IAG on the serial number. I had a looooong argument with TAG when I was trying to verify something about an ex-dem unit I bought...data protection act....cant tell you anything...in the end they totally refused.

unfortunately only thing they have to tell you is if it is on the "stolen" list, everything else is under data protection.
even if the unit was broken 5 times...
    but that's the law...

I would ask for a copy of original invoice for unit, it may have been bought 2 years ago ex-demo for eaxample but have been built much earlier,S/N and copy of original invoice a must for me on this sort of deal! We often take kit in P/X but if it wasnt bought from us we always check serial numbers against database. (not TMA tho sorry)

thanks guys for all your input it has been most illuminating :)

in response i would say, i do believe the seller is almost 90% honest in what he has told me, however it is clear that he is just a middleman selling on equipment and not an original owner as he initialy made out. i have contacted previous buyers from him and they have verified his contact details and that he has sold high end av gear to them and that they had no problems.

however sending library pictures of motherboard is leaving himself open to accusations

prior to this unit popping up i was(still am) in the process of buying ARCAM AV8 shop demo but then came this offer which would save me spending another £1,000 for similar speced model. what would you guys recommend persue the tag or just go for the arcam

my gut instinct is to walk away from the TAG based on your responses and the seller less than ingenious deception however i have requested the serial number from the seller and pictures of the front and rear panel to clarify everything. if the unit does indeed prove to be AV32R 192BP what would you guys say is a fair price for this unit, it has some scratches on the top of unit otherwise the seller rates its condition 8/10.

as ever your thoughts/advice most appreciated :)

    just to update everyone

thanks to info recieved from the forum, the seller recognised he had misrepresented the unit and has changed his advert to reflect this but curiously has not reduced his price

it turns out it is the a plain vanilla model without any upgrades

i dont believe the seller was trying to con anyone just chancing his arm as he really didnt know what he was selling

he might be selling this unit for quite a long time i think
