I'm in the process of connecting a vcr to my home theatre amplifier

at the moment I have the following connected to the amplifier.

1. satellite decoder (Analogue video/audio) -> DSS/VCR2 in (analogue)

2. Digital Set Top Box (s-video) -> TV (s-video)
Digital Set Top Box (spdif digital audio) -> Tv (spdif digital)

3. DVD -> digital audio

I have vcr connected to VCR1 out.via analogue video and audio connectors.

I can record from satellite -> VCR, but I get no video or audio from Digital setop box -> VCR.

I'm assuming that the vcr out requires the input source to be analogue video and audio and does not support audio/video conversion?

Any ideas on the best way to connect/setup vcr with this amplifier and current configuration?

Your assumption is correct. I have the SR8500 and it indeed does not perform any video transcoding (also known as up/down conversion) for the record out connections.

So the way to do this is to connect the RCA video & audio input from the input device you wish to record, since the VCR is only processing the RCA audio/video in/out.

The video transcoding feature (if enabled) is only applicable to the monitor output of the SR7500. Also digital audio is not transmitted to the analog record output terminals but rather to the coax or optical digital output only.
