    hi everyone,

I desperately need SCART-DVI cable for my Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector. My DVD player has only SCART output (except composite and svideo, but no RGB output) so I want to use SCART connector for RGB output. And my projector: SANYO PLV-Z2 has a DVI-I input.

I found DVI pin layout here,
http://www.appian.com/support/trav_techinfo.html (at the very end of page)

    and

    SCART pin layout here,
    http://www.uusikaupunki.fi/~bgt/scart.html

Are there anyone who has knowledge about electrics/electronics and can help me? How can I do this cable? (or at least where can I find it? 'Cause I searched the net very hard and I couldn't find a site that sells this cable)

of course, I imagine that SCART R, G and B pins will be connected to DVI interface's R,G and B. But I know nothing about ground pins and blanking/sync/referance etc. Please help.

    thanks

scart is analogue, dvi is digital so they are not compatible without an actual convertor!

    Hi,

last post is not quite correct, with DVI-i it is possible to input/output a RGBHV (de-interlaced) computer signal input, but with DVI-D only a digital signal can be in/outputted.

This does not help, but what you want is a video to DVI converter...have seen one at...http://www.cypress.com.tw

Your VERY unlikely to find a cable that's SCART (RGB+Composite Sync) to DVI-I - the sales potential for such a cable will be minuscule and DVI -I cables are not something your average DIY'rs going to rattle up of an evening.

I'd suggest adding a JS Technology RGB2YUV converter to the SCART RGB output of your source and connect to the PLV-Z2 using a long set of YUV Component cables.

    Best regards

    Joe

Joe, thank you very much for your help. And please let me ask a thing.

DVI-I connection has analogue R, G and B pins at the plus shaped side of the connector. If I can link SCART's R,G and B pins to the DVI-I connector's R,G and B. Does it work? or should I link some another pins like C4-analog horiz sync. to somewhere? (reference from DVI pin layout here, http://www.appian.com/support/trav_techinfo.html (at the end of page)

and of course, is this dangerous for equipments?

    thanks.

    Murat

PS. I think. A you told me to use a RGB2YUV convertor and convert the SCART's RGB ignal to component. I guess you know PLV-Z2's component input1 socket. Right? You want me to use that input.
