need help placing surround sound speakers

Active Member
hi all,

i've finally delved into the world of surround sound. i've got my equipment:

sony STRDN1040
tannoy TFX5.1 speakers

i now need to measure up for wiring and contemplate placing the surround sound

i've attached a plan and photo of what my living room looks like. you may need to open the jpeg in MS paint as i can't get to save as a larger file.

somethings to note:

you will see i have a chimney breast where my tv is mounted. the cove is 38cm deep

sofa wall is 11.8 ft x 11ft

can the front speakers go in the corner of the actual wall and cove? will it be loud enough to hear?

should i mount the front speakers on either side of the chimney breast?

where should the sub woofer go?

where is the best position for the rear speakers. as you can see the sofa is flush against the wall

thanks in advance
