    Hey All,

I am wondering if someone can help me or point me in the right direction.

I have all my consoles and cable TV connected to my TV which has a HDTV Tuner in it. Samsung 42" LCD. The only output it gives is optical out.

My speakers are the Creative Gigaworks S750. They are 7.1 speakers but can receive a 5.1 signal and can upmix them into 7.1.

I have been told I require either a decoder, preamp or an external soundcard.

Decoder - Have been looking for one, most, if not all, are discontinued
Preamp - Have no idea where to begin
External Soundcard - Creative Audigy2 NX External looks like a choice, but still not sure if it will work as a decoder even if plugged into the computer. I have a server running at home which is always on, but it's operating system is Linux.

Could somone help me with any of the possible solutions or a different solution?
