I currently have a Yamaha RX-V2700. My wife got a free Denon 2807 via work (we won't get it until late June) and I'm trying to decide how the two compare. The retail price for the 2807 is a few bucks less than the 2700 and the 2807 has one less HDMI input but they mostly seem very similar to me.

Some people have said that the 2700 isn't all that great for 2 Channel music. Has anyone had a chance to hear both and can you comment on whether or not the 2807 is any better in this area? Does Denon generally do better at 2 Channel audio in an AVR than Yamaha or is that too hard to generalize?

Why dont you compare the two when it finally arrives? No offense to 2807 users as its a great amp, but performance-wise and feature-wise the 2700 beats it. Others may disagree, so ultimately you should do the comparison and make your own mind up.

You should really be comparing the RX-V2700 with the 4306 not the 2807.

I would probably look at the RX-V1700 against the 2807.

I am really pleased with the music from the V2700 on pure direct but it needs settling in time.

I heard both the 4306 and the V2700 side by side before I made my choice.

i have to agree with topefisher here. the v2700 is another level up on the 2807. the v1700 is comparable to the 2807 as these were the 2 i was lookng at. the v1700 was £100 more but overall i preferred the denon mainly due to the fact that i had my heart set on a denon 2930 dvd and like to have matching components.

I was planning on doing that. I just thought I'd ask for other people's opinion as well. :) Plus I was getting that gentle reminder when I come to the site reminding me that I hadn't posted something in a few weeks, so I thought this might be something that could be discussed.
