Hi, this is my first post, I'm looking to build my first cinema room and was looking for some advice. I have a room that is 2.7 metres wide by 6 metres long and was wondering if I bought a short throw projector would I be far enough away if I put the projector across the short side of the room? I know people usually go the longest length of the room but with the room being quite narrow I am worried how I would get the seating right without looking into the back of someone's head or seats going across the whole room and having to walk around them.does anyone have a similar set up or have any advice?

    Any help would be great

You could put a row of seats on a platform to raise them above the row in front

I did think about that but I'm a little worried about the 6 metre length being too far and it not feeling right

Your room is around the same size as the one i'm building now except mine is only 5m x 2.7m. Can't you put the projector the other way? My panasonic is good for 120" at a 5m throw

I'm halfway through already, ceiling holes cut for Atmos, all wiring will be under floorboards and AV equipment will be in the old (we now have a combi boiler) airing cupboard on the landing controlled with a harmony hub. Plasterer comes in a week, paint is ordered. Dulux night jewels 3 and Damson Dream. Maybe i should start my own thread lol

    Hi Scratchhughes,
That's a similar size to mine (approx 6m x 2.1m, minus some space for the utility/AV room)
I used the full length and can fit 3 people on the main recliners and have room at the back for two/three temporary seats.

Not sure how many people you're looking to cater for but I find this setup fine for up to 6 people (at a push).
    :)

I am not sure, what's room layout like but you can have second row on riser. Also if use AT screen you can have full width screen size with speaker behind the screen you will have better cinema experience.

This is a 5.1.4 Atmos install we recently carried out. Similar dimensions. Fixed AT screen. ImageUploadedByAVForums1462225987.594311.jpg ImageUploadedByAVForums1462226018.321460.jpg
