need cheap air tickets to south Africa for next May....

Hi,

My girlfriend and I have kindly received an invite from her great uncle to go visit them in South Africa next May. We would really like to go but going on Holiday to Nissi Bay (Cyprus) in 10 weeks and then going to Florida and New York next July so this would just be a little bonus two week holiday.

I've had a quick look at flights from here to the UK and they seem to be coming back at around £900 each return. Is this the going rate now as I understand they have just upped tickets by over £100 for fuel tax.

Does anyone know any other decent companies who fly out there for a reasonable price. The quote we had was from BA.

KLM are the best bet for flights to SA in my experience.


Booking that far in advance, I'd be expecting to pay nearer £550 return?, flying Humberside to Capetown.

KLM fly Boeing 777s direct from Schipol (Amsterdam) to Capetown with no stops, makes the journey much easier.

- and I get 4hrs in Amsterdam on the way home.


If you do book with KLM, make sure to join 'Flying Blue' first (from the KLM website) and get banking the air-miles.

Hmm, only thing I can possibly think of to make it cheaper is try to get signed up as an air courier, bascially an escort service for valuable packages. Not sure how though!

I fly back home to SA about twice a year and that's with Virgin or BA. £900 sounds about right for that time of year its the end of summer so still peak season. June JUly is when it gets cold and prices tend to get a bit lower round then.

= £601.60 per person, including tax and surcharges.


IIRC, Air France are cheap too, but I'm not sure if they fly to Capetown, or Jo'Berg?

The KLM one looks great and i'd happily go a few weeks early to save £200 - £300 each!
