Need advice on desk/study speakers - high quality at low volume on a slim budget

Moonfly: that's awfully kind of you. I am down in Kent, and hardly ever venturing north, so it is unlikely that I can use your great offer...

Have been to my local Sevenoaks and Richer Sounds, and of everything I've heard in the small-size "bookshelf" category, KEF iQ10s for me were head and shoulders above the rest.

So my £100 question now sounds like this: has anyone had a chance to compare KEF iQ10s with Audioengine A5s?
No problem, you cant win every time, but I offered just in case.

Lets see:

Tannoy Mercury F1 Custom
Tannoy Mercury F2
MS Avant 902i
Wharfedale Diamond 9.1
Dali Lektor 1
MA Bronze BR2
Hyperion HWS-585
Quad 9L2
Wharfedale Evo 2-8
Focal Chorus 705V
Rega R1
XTZ WMT93
and your favorite SO FAR the Kefs

Sure you've listened to eveything :rotfl:. The Dalis are also supposed to deliver a cracking sound too but a demo may prove the difficult bit. I'd still consider the XTZs too.

If all else fails, then grab a bargain from here

Highly recommended... check out the "RELL Steroid Subwoofer".

Moonfly: thanks for the list, there are quire a few brands/models that I haven't considered. Will carry on trying to listen to as much as I can - although some will have to be ruled out on size/aesthetics.

Everyone: thanks ever so much for your help so far! I will keep you updated on the progress.
