I've been looking at buying a flatscreen for the past month now and have decided I would like to make a purchase. I would be grateful if you could help me with my selection:-

    1. It has to be 37" as any bigger would "take over the room".
    2. It has to have a dark/black frame - the slimmer the better.
    3. I'm leaning towards having a monitor rather than built in TV tuner as I'm having Sky+ installed and planning on Surround Speaker system
    4. I don't want a huge glass stand as I personally do not like to see the cables hanging out the rear etc so only a table top stand will do. NB It is my understanding that most makes can be adapted for either type of mounting.

Models that have caught my attention in local electrical stores are:

    Hitatchi
    Panasonic
    LG
Pioneer (although the smallest I've seen is 42")

What do you people think? I know most of you are going to mention HD readiness so I will consider this also.

    thanks

    Nick

How much are you looking to spend ? This would help people suggest models within your budget then.

Looking at spending up to £2k.

Also, am I right in saying that I'd be better off buying from internet rather than local electrical retailers?

    Thanks

    Nick

Take a look at the JVC LT-37DS6.

There are threads on here about it and longer threads about its smaller relations, the LT-26DS6 & LT-32DS6. All are similar.

You will usually get a better price off the Internet but if you value decent service, try to find a local dealer with whatever you finally choose in stock.
