Hello everyone. I want to get my xbox chipped so i can play prog scan through my toshiba 32zd26p, so i called up new age console in croydon, and told them i want to chip it, but also have a switch to turn it off when i am on xbl. The guy there told me that at the moment it dosent work, as no one knows how the xbl detects for chips, so he told me that my best option is to get a us one. Is this correct????????

can any recommend a chip / switch combination that has been used in the field and not caused anyone to be kicked off xbl????

    Thanks in advance

Xecuter-II , put one in mine with a switch and it is fine with live, as long as you turn it off ;)

in fact you could put a "push to make" switch/button on it so that the chip is only on when you hold the button in, hold it in whilst booting dc-rw/dvd-r then let go, the chip only needs to be on at boot up, this way you would have to be some dumb fuc|<er to boot the xbox with the button held down, then login in to live with the button still held :D

may even try this over the weekend, if i switch the switch off after the game has booted it still plays fine, just whether the chip would take it for too long.

I'm in exactly the same situation. Sadly I've never used a soldering iron in my life, and I don't intend to start practicing with my Xbox!

Anyone know of a company who I can take my Xbox to and have them fit the chip for me? Based in London would be great!

    Cheers.

PM is a Private Message, you can access your private message box, through the User CP option at the Top. Select the Private Message tab and then you can send a PM.

Alternatively you can click on the pm button at the bottom of each message in a thread to pm that person.

I dont think the mods like me here yet ^^

I do have a lot of knowledge of consoles - I'm not a retailer but I do mods for people privately.

Xbox modding is very easy - however you have to be careful if using Xbox Live. Certain EEPROM hacks (through software) or leaving the modchip on while accessing Live will get you banned. A machine can be "un-banned" quite easily however ^^

Thanks for that Saurian. All i want to do is be able to play us discs and play progressive scan onto my telly.
What are the benefits of all these EEPROM hacks and bios updtes that i have been reading about. Do i need to do these???

    It's very easy

Use any modchip such as the Xecutor 2 (or an LPC mod with the Xecutor BIOS *same effect*)

If you need to use the Progressive options use the Enigmah Video Select Disk or similar. It's a small app which you can burn to a fully erased CDRW.

This app reconfigs the EEPROM settings to make your machine NTSC or PAL (switching to NTSC removes the PAL options from the dashboard and opens up the prog scan options *once the appropriate leads are inserted*)

    Hi Saurian,

    I've PM'ed you but it either hasn't worked or you're ignoring me...which I can understand :D

Would you be interested in chipping my machine? If so, how much and where are you? Also, do you do harddrive upgrades?

    Jus.

    I PM'd ya back ^^

(if it hasnt got to you I will resend)

I dont mind modding machines - but note that the postage cost on an Xcentre is massive.

If you can bring your Xbrick to me that'll be a better deal for you (the postage costs as much as the mod)

    Hi Saurian,

    ********

Sorry if I'm being a bit 'dense' but could you explain this a bit further. Does the "Enigmah Video Select Disk" work on it's 'own' or is it something that works with Xecutor 2 installed.

    Brian.
