Too basic. I have 5 activities, each activity has upto 5 macros and each section has seperate links to other devices. I also have discrete IR commands, power on and off codes, input codes and macros to switch on , off, switch inputs etc etc. Pre-programmed database is updated with new codes every few months. All of my devices (squeezebox, dvd, tv, av pre-amp) have discretes. You can't get discretes on that philips remote.

Can you do that on a cheap remote? Nope. My remote cost £150, and it's worth every single penny.

Logitech Harmony 525 - Looks good and has all the buttons required only downside is the price and i will have to get a IR reciever.

Philips SRM 5100 - Also looks good, Cheap, get a IR reciever BUT are you sure it can control my tv and freeview? I dont see anywhere where it says its programable for a tv and freeview?

Thanks for the help really narrowed down my searching for me :)

its able to control my tv,my amp & my media center,

it has modes for: pc, tv, stb, & amp
theres a list of codes that you get in a book for your tv etc... that didnt work too well for my tv, but i just programmed it manually
(you get the philips remote to learn the buttons from your old remote)
as long as your tv + freeview box use ir & not RF it should work :)

But you have to switch modes so to turn system on you press AMP mode "on"+ "input select", TV mode "on" + "input select" STB mode "on" to watch TV, on the harmony you press "watch TV" and it does the rest for you then volume + - control AMP Channel + - control STB colour buttons control STB colours Aspect controls TV each button is maped to the devices you are using at the time if you watch TV with out AMp VOl + - automatically controls TV vol + - it really is a far better solution

Are you saying your remote has advanced control of the MX-700?
Can you place 99 step macros on any button the LCD?
Can you control 40 devices?
Can you mix and match devices on a activity?
Rename buttons?
Have short cut links within a macro?
Have discrete power on, off, individual DSP mode, specific volume, and input discretes?
