Does anyone know a remote hack for my Sony DVPNS400.
Any help or advice would be welcome.
You may need one but you aren't getting one.
Recent sony models need a service remote control or modification to make them multi-region.
Thanks for your response, but not the kind of answer i was after.
Does any one else have a remote hack solution or ideas for the above DVD player to make it multi region.
Just because you didnt like the answer doesnt mean you are going to get a different one if you ask it again.
There is no remote hack for the Sony. You need, either a service remote or you need to get the player modified. I believe that it may also be possible to get the service remote codes programmed into a learning remote, such as a Pronto.
Oh well, it was worth a try.
thanks for your help
The truth is you are asking for something that ain't gonna happen Marvin. I suggest you buy a new DVD player you dirty Dawg!
Thanks for your advice but it ain't gonna happen my player is only a few months old and i can live without multi region if i have to.
Get a mod fitted will cost about £50 - £70.
Buying region 1 titles will save you about £5 per title over the R2 version (in most cases). Now you need to add up if the extra cost will be covered by the savings when you buy the dvds.
there is also the "rent a remote" option from www.dvdchips.co.uk
Thanks for your advice on chipping my player. i had a look at the site, got some good stuff on it. However i don't fancy getting my machine chipped at the moment because its still under a year old and sod law says thjat if i do get it done then it will go wrong and the shop will not be interested in helping because i've had it modified.
how do you work out that R1 discs are a fiver cheaper than R2 discs. If anything I find R2 to be cheaper, although R1 more often than not have better extras, picture and sound. I'd be delighted if you could list a supplier that proves your cases tho.
I hardly think that using an upgrade remote can affect your warranty ... you havent taken the cover off !
Anyone else here tried using a one-off remote (firmware/ service module?) change from DVD-Chips? It sounds too good to be true, which in my experience, usually means that it is.
Hi I can do it for you,I have the special remote you need .I can if you live near Surrey come to you or send me the player or better still send me a learning remote u can do it yourself, what do you think Cheers I am maximus
not sure if Belgium is that close to Surrey ! I know who i'd trust
I find my dvds purchased tend to be debited at around the £12 mark.
Most of them i buy from a&b sound although i usually check the usual dvd price search engines just to make sure.
Hi do you still have the remote!!
All Sony Players or Recorders Cannot Be Hacked with the Handset supplied with them.
Most Sony Items need a Set of Sevice Codes sent via a Programmable device like a One For All Remote ...Palm Pilot etc.. to make them Region Free
Have a look at these Pages the Codes and the Methods of applying them are covered Quite well
Do not worry about the Player Headings the Codes are Universal
But I think Most Players starting with the Prefix DVP-NS can be Hacked using Them as well as many Other Models and if those Players are R2 / R4 by default then the Chances are Higher again.
If you think that The Methods Covered are too much or too complicated for you to attempt then you can always use the services of a "Chipping Company" who will be able to supply you with a One Use Remote Control to send the Service Codes.
Click on the Banner Below or Do a Google search for one of those
Or a Sony Main Dealer
Hope this Helps
