Hey peeps, really need some help and was hoping someone could advise me on what TV i should get.

£500 is the limit, although at a stretch if it was going to imprve tv quality substantially i could stretch another £100 maximum. The only reason im getting one is coz i got a ps3 for crimbo and i have only got a 14" crt in my room which means i cant maximise the ps3 potential. I dont have sky HD so thats out the question but the ps3 does have the blue ray player.

i have been looking at the 1080p tv's but just outta my price range, please could someone advise me and point me out a tv they would get and list the reasons why (the lisitng of the reasons is most important to me)

thank you for your time and i anticipate your reply

    JD

    Hi mate.
In my experience in LCD vs Plasma.
For 37" and above Plasma starts to get into a class of its own. They are much better pic, sharper, smoother, better colours.especially in standard definitions.
LCD`s are ok if you stay under 37".They start gettin "fuzzy outlines" and horrible "ghosting" in SD above 37".
Best thing you can do is decide what size panel u want. Then go check out the LCD`s against a plasma at a local store.

im not to bothered about "size" i just want the best tv for my requirments that meets my budget

i mean to be honest, screen size isnt imoportant if one tv is 37" and the other smaller but the smaller has a much better picture, if that makes sence?

To be honest for PS3 in a smallish room (I'm only assuming smallish as you have a 14 at the moment) I'd go for a 32inch LCD. Have a look at some of the samsung threads over in the LCD forum as they seem OK. Baring in mind there will always be some compromise between quality and price the samsung LCDs seem to have a good balance.

My son has just bought a 32" Samsung LCD as he plays a lot of games and he's very pleased with it. However when I compare it to our 37" Plasma there is no way I'd swap with him as there is just no comparison.

Stretch your budget and go for the best deal you can on the Panasonic px70, it's the best out there for the money and I presume you will be keeping it for a few years so not that expensive.

ED do the Philips 42pfp5532d for £599. I haven't used it for gaming but gets good comments off of people who have in its own thread.

If you keep it for 4 years it's an extra £25 a year and you will always have some resale value on a 42" Panasonic:)
