I'm currently looking for recommendations for a new show to watch. I've seen all of Prison Break, Heroes, Lost and 24 and these are the things I like. Any ideas?

What I do is go through the threads where people recommend TV shows, particularly the US ones as they're more likely to have passed me by, then rent the first disc of the first series via an online DVD rental company (Lovefilm for example lets you select just the first disc) and see if I get into it over the first 3 or 4 episodes.

Everyone's tastes are slightly different so I find this a good way of choosing series worth giving some serious viewing time to.

Have you seen any of Medium?

I caught a few Season 3 episodes on the beeb, no idea what was going on with back story etc, but the individual episodes were very good.

Just bought the S1 DVD set and started watching from the beginning and have found it to be excellent so far.

How about Friday Night Lights? Really enjoyed that, eagerly awaiting the start of the second season, don't be put off if you don't like american football, it's more about the people than the game.

If you are looking for contineous storylines then check these out:

    1. Jericho - Similar to 24
    2. The Kill Point - Excellent mini series
    3. Kidnapped - Superb series.
    4. Traveler - Very good mini series. Similar to Prison Break Season 2
    5. State Of Play - UK 6 parter - superb.
    6. Murder 1 - Season 1 was excellent. Season 2 was not bad.
    7. Vanished - A weaker kidnapped
    8. Others which might be worth a look are Invasion, Sanctuary, Surface & Secret Army.

a bit of an understatement ... have you not watched it until the final episode? Totally unresolved, went completely bad mid way through when there was a major cast change. If I could turn back time I would not waste my time on it

    I would also recommend:

The State Within - excellent UK/US thriller from the BBC starring Jason Isaacs, Sharon Gless and Ben Daniels (Spooks fans would certainly enjoy it :smashin:)

Burn Notice - USA Network entertaining drama about an (ex)CIA agent who has been 'burned' (with a great supporting role for Bruce Campbell)

Have already mentioned Damages in my post above - very good legal thriller with a very evil Glenn Close

Saving Grace - Holly Hunter (looking like Iggy Pop) cop drama, her life is a total mess, and an angel called Earl tries to make her sort it out ... each episode reveals more about her life and family tragedies etc

The Grid - UK/US terrorist thriller miniseries, BBC co-production from a few years ago ... a bit like Sleeper Cell without the stronger swearing and nudity

Yes I have watched it to the end and for me changing one of the lead roles part way through it was no problem. It is obvious they were planning to continue on hence the ending. Didn't someone mention a Bones crossover? Anyway what I didn't like about Vanished was the Alias elements.

Yes Burn Notice is superb. Then again I am rewatching Brisco County at the moment. Burn notice is sort of Pysche crossed with Macgyver. Actually Pysche is another good series. Has some comedy but not enough to ruin it.

    Yup that was me :D

I though the change of cast was terrible, the new lead and Ming-Na put in awful performances I thought (and were given awful dialogue), and some rather unsubtle product placement for Cisco and the Toyota Prius; not to mention loads of plotholes ;)

Speaking of product placement, there was also a rather unsubtle one in The Kill Point, when Donnie Wahlberg goes for a shave, taking a Gillette Fusion razor out of its packet ... I can forgive that though, as it was an excellent show from beginning to end

Just finished The Kill Point and was very impressed. I also noticed the razor 'advert'.

Some interesting sounding shows mentioned although I have watched quite a few of them already. I thought Vanished was really good and was gutted they didn't finish it.

Anyway I now have to decide what I'd like to see next seeing as The Kill Point is done.

Californication comes to FiveUS next month (11th I think), very funny and risqué even for Showtime, stars David Duchovny in a comedy role that he has been trying to perfect since X-Files. It's already been renewed for a second season as well which is always good to know before starting a new show:)

Revealing is certainly the word, didn't expect the rear view although the signature was funny, very David Essex:)

Sorry to jump on this thread but I also need a few new programmes.

Currently all I have in my Sky+ are the downward sliding CSI: Miami and the bouyant  Ghost Whisperer. All my faves such as NCIS, 4400, Dexter etc etc have all just ended.

Any good programmes just starting or old series returning?

    Thanks

Callifornication (Staring David Duchovney) starts on 11.10.07 on Channel 5
Ugly Betty series 2 starts on 4 on 5.10.07 at 21.00 hrs
A Town Called Eureka series 2 starts on Sky one on Tuesday 9.10.07 with at double episode at 20.00 hrs
Hidden Palms (New series in the vein of the OC) starts 1st/2nd week of October)
The Sarah Connor Chronicles starts on Virgin 1 fairly soon as well.

There are bound to be other new series starting in October as well but thats all ive seen details of so far (Oh yes - Virgin 1 are repeating the fantastic Boston Legal from the very start, which is great as I missed the first half of the first series and have never seen it)
