Hi everyone, Been lurking around these forums for a good while but this is my first post.

I recently had Call of Duty 4 brought as a christmas present for the PC, I dont really play PC games but i like Call of Duty so i want to get it working, When i try and run the game it says my graphics card does not support Direct X 9 Games

My Specs are as follows (Well these are what i can rememeber, At work at the mo)

    - AMD Athlon 64 - 3000+ (Socket 754)
    - 3 X 512MB PC3200 DDR Memory

What im after is a graphics card that will support Call of Duty 4 and most of the current games out at the moment but at the same time i know my PC is not top of the range so dont want to invest in a grpahics card if more powerfull that my PC

Dont really know what im talking about. Basically I want graphics card that wont be letting my PC performance down.

    Reccomendations Plz :)

What slot has your motherboard got? AGP or PCI-e?

And how much do you want to spend? Anything between £50 and £350 could be advised!!

    Cheers

    Thats my motherboard below.

    http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_spec.aspx?ID=en-us0000053

According to the specs it has the following

    1 x AGP 8X, 5 x PCI

I think the graphics card I have in at the moment is AGP, I have a few PCI slots availble too

Looking for a Graphics card that will play COD4 and other games at the mininum requriments on the lowest budget possible.

    Many thanks

Any of the following are Nvidia Direct X 9 and come in AGP.

    Nvidia 5200,6200,6600,6800,7600,7800,7900,7590

Have a look on scan.co.uk, prices are between £25 and £150.

Have a look on Toms Hardware for relative performance figures: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2006.html

    OK quick question

Are there many Games out or coming out very soon that will only be playable with a DirectX10 Graphics card

I take it you cant get a AGP DX10 Card?

    Hi,

If you want to play DX10 games in the future i would recommend you upgrade your rig to get decent frame rates as you will need to upgrade your OS to Vista (which will reqiure 2GB RAM)

Otherwise any AGP card that Mickwall posted will be fine for basic/decent DX9 gaming.

    Hope this helps

    Sukh
