Need A Amp

Looking at the info on the sub, it's 1000w max....ignore these ratings.

It's dual 2 ohm, so you're correct, wiring both voice coils in series will make your amplifier produce power at 4 ohms. Wiring in parallel will make your amplifier produce power at 1 ohm.

What are you using this subwoofer for? High volumes, sound quality? Anything with around 500w rms on tap at 4 ohms will be fine.....

Is this for the car, or are you building a sub for the home?

EDIT. If you're not sure how to wire in series, here's a diagram for you:

Gone were the days I used to run Resonant Engineering XXX-15 subs and DLS A6 monoblock amplifiers in the car. Two batteries, 0 guage cable, I think the MDF and subs weighed more than the little old Astra they were installed into. :(

one more question is it better to have a amp that runs at 500wrms at 1ohm or one that runs at 500wrms 4ohm?
just wondering if there is a performance difference?
Thanks

No performance difference really, more so for sub bass applications than full range. Obviously, you have to check that the amp is capable of running at 1 ohm in the first place.

If I had the choice, though, I would try and find something to run at 4 ohm.....there's less worry of things overheating....the boot was never a great place to store amplifiers in the first place.
