I've inherited a broken plasma from work. I would like to know if it is worth repairing or not. When the unit is plugged in, the standby light comes on. When it's powered up, however, it only turns green for a moment, the fans run, and then it powers off straight away. I've seen this exact same problem described on one or two FAQs on other sites, but no comprehensive answers about the trouble. I thought it might be a common problem with NECs, and wanted to see if anyone knows what causes this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Model is NEC PX-42VP1A

It might cost £3-400 for the repair, I'd guess. It does sound like the power supply. You could get a quote, www.steljes.co.uk might help you. You'd be much better off with a modern screen though.
