Looks like there is no sign of this at cedia.
Some talk on avs that its likely to be another 4:3 model .

This looks to have been confirmed, 4:3 and an improved scaler plus other sundry fixes. Bummer:( Should be in UK in early 2004.

Makes the HT1000 (with an anamorphic lens) @ £1999+ (and ~£400 for the lens) look very, very tempting

HT1000s still sell for full retail ($5000 or >£3.2k) in the US. Hoping to see the HT1000 with lens in the coming weeks.

    :smoke:

With no replacement HT1100 iminent it looks like the HT1000 will remain at its current price.

So excluding the ex-demo ones from Nexnix (couldn't be many left now), a HT1000 will cost > £3.3k

Disappointed with Cedia TBH, thought we'd see more exciting PJs coming into the market soon. Ah well, there's always next year to look forward too.

    :)

Don't ask me why but I just have this sneaky feeling that the new HT1100 may indeed be a HD2 chipped pj giving the 16:9 ratio everyone has been hoping for.

Why? Well, put yourself in NEC's shoes and you look in the warehouse and see you still have 1000's of HT1000 units with an inventory fig into the £m's. What do you do. Announce a new pj and write off all those £m's or scotch the rumours by saying the HT1100 is another 4:3 pj.

I know what I'd do and I'd sit it out a few months, shift all the existing stock and then hit the market with a BIG surprise. You're hardly likely to lose out. You shift all your existing stock at just slightly less than MSRP and when the new one comes out you get a bigger upgrade market and makes a ton more sales.

I said, call me sceptical but something is just nagging at the back of my mind. And considering there were no other stunners at Cedia at the price point (HS20 aside, maybe) nothing lost there too. Maybe they decided to pull the HT1100 from the show when they realised there was not gonna be anything else of real competition.

I guess only time will tell.

Why the hell would any manufacturers release 4:3 home cinema projectors nowadays ? Am I missing something ?

Cheaper to use an existing xga chip I guess, along with improved optics and a good scaler, you can get a pretty good picture using just 1024 x 576 set of pixels, just like with the HT1000 currently does.

HD2 chips will come down soon though I think, especialy as the HD2+ is now out.

I guess the question is will it be enough of an improvement to warrant a new model. NEC obviously think so but does seem strange when the HT1000 is so well received.

If the HT1100 is just an upgraded HT1000 like Danial over at AVS said it was, then it looks like NEC agree with you - by making a great product even better. :)

    Gary.
