I have one of these drives and I'm very pleased with it but it has now been replaced by the 3500. The 3500 isn't a lot dearer and has excellent reviews. The 3500 writes faster and is supposed to be a better reader than the 2510. Have a look at www.svp.co.uk they have it for £50. www.cdfreaks.com forums have tons of info. on both drives.

Get the NEC 3500 or Pioneer 108. If you can wait until DL disks are more available and cost effective then technology wouldve moved on by then anyway. Look at buying one in Nov/Dec.

I'm thinking of Pio 108 or NEC 3500. Rather than fitting internally, what external enclosure would anybody suggest - to have USB 2.0 + Firewire connections. Or is there an external version available/ due? How does Sony DRX 700 compare ( dabs £126 ). Need it for backing up photos , home video. Do these have suitable drivers/ recognition by Win XP.

    Thanks

Keyword search for "AC 5041" on This SVP Page for the enclosure I ordered today. SVP have 99p shipping on orders over £30 this weekend too.

I'm going to try it with a 200gb HDDrive.

    Mark.
