'Scuse what's perhaps a dumb question :) but where would one buy this? I've looked at a couple of the on-line DVD stores I use and they don't list it, does one have to import from Japan?

Without pointing things out too clearly you might try the company who supplied us with the disc?;)

Okay, sorted. My ad/spam blocking proxy was filtering it because it thought it was an ad., just like it shows the URL in your initial post in this thread... I've now found their page for the DVD.

    £39.99  .. not exactly cheap. :(

I believe it is now deleted in Japan, it was a limited run and very collectable, I suppose thats why it is priced as such.

Okay thanks. Anime is not a genre I've taken much interest in, your review piqued my interest, it's the sort of story I could enjoy.

For that price you can geta pack of the first 6 Star Trek films also from that site. :D

There were four versions of this released in Japan as far as I remember:
    1) Special collectors version with 2 statue figures, framed artwork and a zip case for the DVD. This was pre-order only and comes in a big cardboard box (50x60x20cm!).
    2) Collectors edition with a Nausicaa statue and a zip case. Limited to 50,000 copies.
    3) Regular edition with a zip case. Limited to the first pressing?
    4) Regular edition

It's only released in Japan ATM so you have to import it. DVDs in Japan are usually pretty pricey, the Ghibli DVDs usually have an RRP of 4700yen (£24). Not tried Disc Emporium, but there's also www.cdjapan.co.jp and www.amazon.co.jp

I own a copy of the collector's box version, but it's currently in Tokyo with my brother - doh!
