Looking at that link there was a Hurricane Lee two weeks ago, but it got downgraded to a tropical storm then to a Tropical Depression :(.

They could just add numbers to the end like I had to do for my username !

The should sponsor the names - get Coca Cola etc to name one, and in payment of the number of times they get mentioned on News channels, pay some money into the disaster funds.

.... can't wait for Hurricane Preperation H or Hurricane Rennie Deflatine

there was no point quoting the first bit of what I said without the second ...... because the first bit was a set up for the second.

Why not let premiership footballers, rockstars etc name them. Then we'd have some pretty horrifying hurricanes.

Is it just me, or does 'Hurricane Pablo' sound more like a middleweight contender? :D

Another couple of bits of info about hurricanes that I've discovered.....both from the BBC.

    1) Although the US National Weather Service did not start using names until 1953, for hundreds of years hurricanes in the West Indies were named after the saint's day on which they occurred.

    2) A hurricane name is retired from the rotating alphabetical list if the storm has been particularly destructive. Hence there will not be another Katrina.

And how sad is it that I'm posting this at just gone 9pm on a Sat evening!! :(

According to the site in the link, they alternate with each letter. Like the way they said they don't use Q, U, X, Y or Z as there are not another names for these letters. Yet for G this year they have used the name 'GERT'. :rotfl:

Round here every topical storm would be called a 'Gert big hurricane' anyway.
