Narrow speaker wire into wall

For my TV I've already channeled out the wall, added trunking and put in HDMI cables, etc.

However I'm now looking at adding wall mounted speakers and mounted speakers, and the above was an absolute nightmare.

I'm wondering if anybody has sucessfully channeled out a few mm wide/few mm deep just enough for the speaker wire to sit in, then simply replastered/refilled the speaker wire into place. I'm aware you probably shouldn't do that, but it would make everything a lot easier, especially for the heights?

Bit late responding here. But that's exactly what we did for our rear speakers due to solid block walls, and once filled over and painted it looks seamless. Here's a pic just after painting (hence no furniture!). We've had the setup for 2 years now and no issues/cracking.
