I would appreciate any help trying to sort this problem.

Have reset T743 and HTR2 remote, with no change.
HTR2 records IR ok and operates Samsung TV ok.

Posted problem on fixya, had one report of the same problem, but no diagnosis.

Called NAD uk support, but they couldn't offer any help other than sending off for service which is really a lost resort.

Really stupid question: Have you replaced the batteries in the remote and checked that they're correctly inserted?

Hi Mark,

I replaced the batteries with new alkalines, and did a thorough test by using HTR2 to control my TV with no problems at all, so I'm certain the remote is working ok, unless, somehow, the NAD commands have been erased although I have read that a factory reset of the remote should eliminate this issue.

Does anyone have a service manual for the T-743 or know a full list of service commands?

Thanks
Simon

Hi There

You can find all product manuals on the NAD website - cunningly called www.nadelectronics.com ! They are all free to download and under the support section. You will also find the HTR2 manual there.

One thing to note with the HTR 2 is that even though it flashes and gives you the impression that its working - sometimes, if the batteries are low its not actaully enough to get the signal through to the receiver. I have found that Duracell are not the best choice - try something like a decent Alkeline from Panasonic or Energiser. Its strange that it getting the signal to the other units - but they may be more responsive to lower power IR ??

Hope this helps

Hi Angus

I already know about NAD download section, however, I'm after the Service manuals rather than the Owner's manual - the service manual provides information about PCB's, testing, and the hidden service commands (like factory reset etc)

Although the batteries I'm using are brand new, I'll buy a new set tonight and try them just to be absolutely sure.

Cheers

tried new batteries with no success, think this is looking like a failure within the amp.

Still waiting for NAD to answer my questions I submitted to their website 2 weeks on, has anyone had experience with their online support? Do they actually bother to read any questions su?bmitted

Try pointing a ditial camera or camera phone at the remote, you should be able to see the IR flashing on the screen (test it with a working remote first to check). Maybe some button groups work fine and others don't?

I downloaded a neat little program called irda remote control - this allowed me to record IR remote commands to my laptop to control Windows Media Player. I tried this program with 4 remotes, including my HTR-2 and all worked ok. Therefore, I'm convinced my HTR-2 is transmitting properly.

Have spoken to NAD an have exhausted any ideas they had, which were what I had already tried.

They referred me to the UK distributor Armoure who quoted me £100 for a service and £75 to trace the fault, plus I'll need to pay for carriage which will bring the costs to £200 pounds or more before I've even started to look at fixing it - does anyone have any experience with other NAD dealers for repairs in UK?
