Nad C370 - pre => power connection.

Just picked up a Nad C370 amp, which I quite unusual in that the pre and power sections are connected at the rear via a solid metal bar jumper across the phono sockets. Quite a nice design if you want to use the amp solely as a pre or power amp. Hoeever I've heard the default metal bar connections aren't great for sound quality and that some substantial improvements can be made by replacing them with some good interconnects.

What would people suggest? Ideally it should be short, if only to save clutter, so a 10-20cm good quality DIY cable may be more appropriate. Ideas?
