NAD 5120 Turntable - Help with the tonearm

Hi, we bought my teenage son a 5120 off eBay for Christmas. It has been a total winner.
However, one of the output wires is a bit loose so we tried to reconnect it. When putting the turntable back together we really struggled getting the tonearm back as it was before. It no longer lowers to the height of the disc. We are clearly doing something wrong. Anyone knowledgeable out there who could put us back on to the right path?
Many thanks, R

Just from reading around a bit online about the 5120, there were a couple of different variations of tonearm (one is the original flat one as depicted in larkone's manual, the later one is a more conventional thin one as shown here):

The diagram in the manual mentions a cueing height screw so that might be a good place to start.
