    Hi guys

Has anyone tried the new firmware update availible from the nokia phone suite firmware upgrader.

Im at work at the mo and cant do it as it needs the phone plugged into a charger.

If you have done it does it remove all the orange / vodafone branding so voip will work.

Just done mine, didn't use a charger.

If you use Nemesis Service Suite to change your phones product code to 0536062. It will flash it with the generic firmware getting rid of all your phone branding ;)

No, there is a separate stand alone program called Nokia software Updater.

Just go to http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate and select N80 as your phone and click on update via PC.

There are no links. You can't do it via the website, you need to use the Nokia Software Updater.

Ok..downloaded the software...ran it...it says there are no updates available.
    Firmware Version = 10.0.018

    Is this the latest version?
I heard there was a new version on the way n thought that might have been what this thread was about.
    What is the latest version?

Does anyone know what bugs this fixes?

I already have a generic version, but would like to see the memory leak problem fixed.

Ok, it's looking quite good... I have read on a couple of other forums that GPS start up time have been significantly improved with the latest firmware, as has the memory problem. Also, the camera is better and faster, as is the overal menu/UI.

    EDIT:

Of course this is just a forum post, we need to see more reports and try it ourselves, but it's looking promising. Especially on the memory, GPS front.

What was wrong with it in the first place? With the new update, holding down the # key activates and de-activates the silent profile.

It will be ok, yes. However, whether you are able to uprade to the new firmware is a different matter. That will all depend on whether there is an update available for your phones product code :smashin:

Phones brought from stores, ie CPW don't have this facility. Mine...ie O2, does.
Bit of an inconvenience. This was discussed in the huuuuuuuuuuuge N95 thread.

Does Nokia list what the bug fixes are each time a new firmware is released for a phone?

Just wanted to say thanks. This was really easy to do. I had an O2 branded N95, i changed the product code using Nemesis and then just used the Nokia updater to get the new firmware on. Just have to wait and see how it perform now!

Has anyone managed to update and Orange N95. I am having a real problem.
I have changed the product code to Euro2 and the NSU finds the new firmware downloads it and starts the update. The N95 looks like it goes into Flash mode (dark screen with black NOKIA on it) the update sits there for 5 mins or so then goes into phone recovery mode. Tells me to take battery and power out then re-start the phone. Everything comes back but still on the old firmware 10.....

The only thing I notice is that when the n95 goes in to flash mode the pc fails ro recognise the device.

Help I want all the Orange rubbish of my otherwise great phone

    Cheers

pagibbo, I had major problems trying this when I first started, the same problems you are experiencing too. My phone is a Sim Free type 66.01 and I used NSS to change to a Euro1 (01.01) type so I could upgrade it's firmware.

When the software update had rebooted the phone (I'm guessing into Local mode) my computer no longer recognised the phone and reported the USB device was faulty. However I had previously installed a cracked version :)devil:) of Diego and Phoenix to work on another phone of mine  and it was this software that had prevented my computer from recognising the phone in the new mode!! I retried upgrading the firmware on a clean PC and it worked straight away no problem whatsoever.

This may or may not apply to you but I hope it helps!
