Myth: Polar bears have white fur..

Fact: Their hair is colorless, it only looks white because the air spaces in each hair scatter light of all colors. The color white becomes visible to our eyes when an object reflects back all of the visible wavelengths of light, rather than absorbing some of the wavelengths....(Natures TOSlink)

Its an oldie, but so what I like Polar bears....

Truth : During the filming of the 1958 Disney nature documentary "White Wilderness", the film crew induced lemmings into jumping off a cliff and into the sea in order to document their supposedly suicidal behavior.

I believe carrots contain high levels of carotenoids, which are high in Vitamin A, and a deficiency in this nutrient can cause some difficulty seeing in dim light. Vitamin A is essential for the formation of the chemical retinal, whose presence in the retina is necessary for vision. Our eyes have two kinds of light sensitive cells: the rods and the cones. The rods are the cells we rely on to see in dim light. They are sensitive to Vitamin A deficiency...

So, it's stretching a point, perhaps, but carrots do in fact assist in seeing in the dark... :)
