myremote for Android

Just downloaded this app the other day

very good, can control media center and use my desires keyboard to browse the web etc.

only gripe is that the keys don't work with mpc-hc yet (which i have launching as an external player from media browser)

not a major issue as the video plays then returns back to media center when its done, but i'll probably look at this a bit more.

all in all highly recommended

Yep, it's a great backup for when you can't find the standard MCE remote!

If you port forward the myRemote port (9875 I think?) through your router to your MC then you can connect using your external IP address and control the HTPC through your 3G/H connection without having to connect via wifi also.

There's a decent client for RemotePotato to set recordings remotely called 'Remote Media'. That also has a virtual IP based remote built in but the look&feel isn't as good as myRemote. Once that's sorted though I'll probably just stick to using the RemotePotato app only.

I did see the port forward option, but i mostly have wifi on at home... would be cool to mess with the olther half when i'm not there though would be like a channel changing ghost!

I have been meaning to try remote potato out for a while - really for the streaming capability instead of the remote guide /record
