    Big bums :(

After raving about the Z1, and thoroughly enjoying my unit, tonight I go to switch it on for a little XBox goodness and all it does is light the little red lamp LED for half a second and then nothing. No lights, no fans, and certainly no bloody image.

Now when I plug it in and turn on nothing at all happens - no LEDs or anything. It's like I never plugged it in :(

It's not the fuse or the socket, and the blub's only got 150 hours (ish) on it, so I'm guessing the unit's PSU has gone tits up, or something inside has worked its way loose.

Has anyone got any suggestions for things I might not have tried, before I switch to moan-mode and ring NexNix?

I'm really very disappointed by this - you'd think something you paid £1300 for would last a little more than a couple of months.

Looks like I owe a few of you an apology - sorry for recommending this model :thumbsdow

Mr B, keep your chin up mate. Nexnix will replace it no worries. I am sure you read about my ongoing PJ madness but I got there in the end......

Why is FP so hit and miss?

    hope its OK.

Thanks for the words of support fella. I need 'em right now :(

I got a load of people coming round at the weekend to marvel at my fab home cinema. Looks like I'm going to look like a right tit :(

I know what you mean about FP now - i read your madness thread and thought you must have been really unlucky, but now I'm not so sure....

Assuming nexnix will replace it, which they should, despatch should be tomorrow, with delivery on Thursday or Friday, so hopefully all OK for Saturday.

Get on the phone early though.

Oh and you dont owe anyone here an apology in my opinion.

    Cap.

Just spoke to nexnix. They won't send a new one until they receive this one back (sent at my expense). Then they're going to send it to Sanyo. If Sanyo replace it, they might not be able to pixel check the replacement. They don't know how long the return will take.

    Bloody great.

Its a lesson learned tho. I'll take a refund if they offer it and use my HT room for music.

Nothing unusual there - no retailer/supplier will send out a replacement b4 getting the faulty unit back.

How long have you had the Z1? Over 30 days & a warranty repair/replacement is your entitlement. Not really fair to expect a retailer to issue a replacement under these circumstances.

Stick with it - Nexnix are 2nd to none according to all here. I'm sure you'll be viewing "the big screen" again shortly.

    :)

Yeah I know. They're not being unreasonable at all, I'm just angry that my baby has gone tits up.

And everyone is laughing at me at work, saying stuff like "haha - serves you right for spending so much money". Grrrrrr

I suppose Cap'n Benefit's horror story has got me worried - my Z1 was working great before this (no dead pixels, banding, or colour uniformity problems) and I'm concerned that a replacement might not be as good.

If Nexnix sort it out quickly and with a minimum of fuss, and the repair / replacement is sound, I'll be happy as a pig in poo again and I'll be singing their praises from the rooftops :)

Not true! On Saturday I had three Z1's from Nexnix before two of them (one dead as a dodo, the other with a stuck green pixel) were picked up.

    Cheers,
    Cal.

    Mr Belowski,

I had yhe first one for about 2 weeks before it went belly up and the second for another 2 weeks although I complained about the green pixel during the first week after it arrived.

It might be a different story after 4 weeks as you have the right to a full refund when something shows a fault quite quickly, after that a repair is no less than you're entitled to.

Hope you get a new one or repair soon.

    Cheers,
    Cal.

I'm not as brave as you Smurin. All I'll say is I bought mine before xmas.

I raved on about it and my mate bought one. It's done a pretty similar sort of thing. It was sent back to Sanyo and they are going to repair it...he has to wait 2 weeks for the part to arrive! Which isn't very good considering he's only had it about a month or so.

Good luck. Hope it gets sorted.

    Smurfin,

Am I some sort of couch potato?? I've only had my Ae300 for 11 days and I've already done 130hrs! Though I suppose the rest of the family use it when I'm not around. :D
