My wireless connection is rubbish...help!

My wireless signal keeps dropping and is made worse when my PC (wired connection) is online. I have 2 laptops that i use wirelessly and i have a Belkin modem/router which can handle up to 4 connections at one time.

What do i need to improve the signal on my laptops? Ive been looking at signal boosters but I don't really know what i'm looking for

What sort of signal strength are you getting when you are connected and how far from the router are you?

People also seem to put the wireless router close to electrical equipment if you have done this I would suggest moving it around see what affect it has on your signal.

you could try changing the wireless channel.
