EDC8111D-B37C-44EB-90EC-C677D67CDD23.jpeg I will be returning my LG C8 for a Sony. One week old and there are lines at the bottom of the screen and it turns of after 20 seconds.
Time to give Sony a shot.

You do know that LG Displays make the panel in both TVs, right?

Its definitely the Russians behind this :p.

Joking aside, that sucks. Hoping mine doesn't end up like yours.

We are at the mercy of panel lottery. :(

Electronics do fail and you have the exact same chance of this happening if you go over to Sony. I just think your a bit unfortunate this isn't a common occurrence

I have to concur with the previous post by dollag. I am on my second LG OLED, the only reason for that being that I upgraded from my original FHD 930V to a 4K E6V and, between the two, have been an OLED user for just over three years without a single problem. I should add that we gave the first one to my mother-in-law and it's still working perfectly for her.

You have just been unlucky. Unfortunately, "Sh*t happens!"

I hope you get sorted out quickly.

    Martin.

Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire, the Sonys are way dimmer with aggressive abl and daft tone mapping and have a crap OS . I wish you luck but I can't help thinking you're gonna regret it

I know lg makes both panels but they use different electronics. Sucks going through the exchange process.

See those recent Shootout results did you..(?) If you give any credit to their collective opinion, then you'd be wrong in what you're saying...

That 'panel lottery' talk above? Same thing. It's an unfortunate, yet clearly very vocal minority. If he gets a good AF8 he's going to be sorted.

That really depends. As an android user, on the philips My Mrs wants to throw the remote at the TV most days. If it's a family TV then i'd stay clear of the Sony, the platform really is that bad. If it's just for him and not really using the os platform on the tv then by all means he can take his pick.

I read that the AF8 will shortly be getting an update to Oreo, along with a redesigned interface so it should be much improved over previous versions...

Should being the key word there. Going on Sony's previous "future updates" like their dolby vision implementation, I'd be wary. right now, android OS is still very problematic and needs a lot of work to be anywhere near the level of the other manufacturers

While I like LG OS better, I have no issue with Sony
