My TV doesn't want to display my computer using a DVI to HDMI cable

I've got my computer hooked up to my TV via a DVI to HDMI cable, but it's not working. What's going wrong? I suppose it could just be the cable.... I know that the TV can display computer stuff, because I'm typing this on my TV screen, using the a VGA connection instead. Where'm I going wrong?
