So, what do you think of my ranking?

I do like the idea of such a specific number as 32 favourite films. I struggle with a top 10 as I always change my mind.

I was lost at number 1 but then again, I really don't like Peter Radcliffe as Harry Potter.

The one I read in the books was so much cooler.

Actually, your list isn’t too bad, but starting off with Harry Potter as a no.1 pick?? You’re asking for trouble!!

Pretty terrible you have only one classic in the list The Shining and just a couple of decent choices.

You’re being a little harsh, I count at least 10 top films in that list that would make it into a lot of people’s top 32 🤣

Haha I agree. The list is okay, the order is a bit controversial.

Dark Knight, Shining, Deadpool, Lion King, Toy story, Avengers (IW/EG), Princess Mononoke , Whisplash, Kingsman, Shutte risland, Your name are all quite near top tier in their respective genres.

Forrest Gump
Jurassic Park
Avatar - groundbreaking at the time
Fight club
Lord of the rings
Pulp fiction
Back to the future

He’s just thrown a few dodgy curve balls in there - pirates of the Caribbean?!!! 😱

Yup all good picks although I'm not fond of Fight Club or Avatar, they're loved by many.

There’s a few in there that would probably make my top 32.

That’s the positives.

Potter rubbish at No 1 though.

Only 1 Star Wars film and you’ve put Sith instead of Empire (or Jedi/New Hope):eek::eek:

Honestly, that’s a McDonalds menu of a film list, although there are some very entertaining movies in there. A good start but you may need to venture outside the mainstream a little more. That will happen with time though. Enjoy.

I stopped after number 2 😉
Longer than me I stopped at number one, I could not get half way into what ever was Harry Potters first film and gave up. If that's a reflection of the books I think there better apprentice magician books out there particular some of the Earthsea books wrote before Harry Potter.
Heck even though Micky Mouse Sorceress Apprentice was better  :rotfl:

But would not do for us to all have the sane taste.;)

Top 32, great idea! It's really hard to select top 10

I went back to check the original post was not written on the 1st April…..
some decent choices to be fair

for what it’s worth:
1. Heat
2. Bladerunner
3. Die Hard
4. The Godfather
5. The Godfather Part Two
6. Groundhog Day
7. Dark Knight
8. The Terminator
9. Life of Brian
10. Casino Royale

it changes a lot, although Heat has been my no.1 since seeing it at the cinema all those years ago

My top ten

Psycho (1960)
The Third Man (1949)
JAWS (1975)
Alien (1979)
Chinatown (1974)
Paths of Glory (1957)
The Exorcist (1973)
The Philadelphia story (1940)
On the Waterfront (1954)
Harold and Maude (1971)

My ever changeable top 10, time to post it. I'm putting sequels together I don't care.

Blade Runner & Blade Runner 2049
Taxi Driver
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Alien & Aliens
Lord of the Rings trilogy
The Exorcist
Jaws
Apocalypse Now
Brazil
The Big Lebowski

It's always going to be subjective and a matter of taste. As has been said already, it's not too bad a list but pretty mainstream. Having a Harry Potter film as number 1, especially the worst one with the weakest story some dreadful acting in it is pretty controversial, even if it is enjoyable enough.

I'll give my top 5 though pretty sure someone will find fault with it too ;)

1 Lord of the Rings (I count all of them as one film)
2 The Deer Hunter
3 Goodfellas
4 Heavenly Creatures
5 Giant
